News from SCIS:
10th April 2017
Once again, we were delighted to offer our students at St. Constantine’s the opportunity to take part in a sailing course in Mauritius during the February 2017 activities week. A total of 26 students took part in the week’s sailing course with the Wildwind Adventures team at Mont Choisy, Mauritius.
The students enjoyed learning to sail during the week away, and had a chance to learn to wind surf and have fun on the stand up paddle boards out on the beautiful Indian ocean.
All students received their Royal Yachting Association Youth Level 1 award. Congratulations to Muhammad Bakir Fazal who received his Level 2 award this year, having received his Level 1 on last year’s sailing trip.
The week away encourages students to learn a new skill, to work as a team, to become confident in the water, and to increase awareness. Knowing what your limitations are, how to overcome them, and having an awareness of the world around you is key to safe and enjoyable sailing. Wind is invisible, but yet you can see evidence of it in the trees, the ripples on the water, and the feeling of it on your skin! Well done to all the students and staff who took part in this adventurous activity!
