News from SCIS:
9th February 2017
On Monday 6th February 2017 the whole school, both primary and secondary, got together to raise the new House flags. The event kicked off with a few words from the Headmaster, Mr Macfadyen, who reminded us of the important role which the House system has played in the school over the years. He went on to inform us about the historical significance, particularly with regard to the school’s Greek heritage, of the names: Athens, Delphi, Olympia and Sparta, before paying tribute to the four secondary Heads of House, Mrs Mbugua, Mr Hill, Mr Bennett and Mr Turner, for their contribution to the system this year. We were then led in the national anthem before the student Heads of House got together to read us a poem which covered many issues such as competition, frienship and fairness, which the House system embraces. So followed the raising of the flags, each being raised individually to rapturous applause from those present. The ceremony ended with each House getting a chance to do a shout-out, led by their House Captain. We look forward to many more years of the House system and to the opportunities and challenges it brings us. The difference now is that the students and staff can look to their House flag with pride.
